01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Strasbourg at 1 Rue Adolphe Seyboth, Restaurant La Vieille Tour offers a truly authentic French dining experience that celebrates the rich culinary traditions of Alsace. This charming eatery, run by a warm and dedicated older couple, invites guests into a cozy, intimate setting that feels like a beloved family home rather than a typical restaurant.

The cuisine here is a heartfelt tribute to Alsatian heritage, with dishes that evoke nostalgia and comfort through family recipes passed down generations. Diners rave about the rich, flavorful duck pâté, tender rabbit, and the expertly prepared ballotine of capon—a delightful journey through traditional French flavors with a rustic touch. The pre-fixed menu, a favorite among visitors, often features delights like velvety tomato soup, succulent duck for two, and indulgent chocolate mousse to finish, creating a perfectly balanced meal that lingers in taste and memory.

Service at La Vieille Tour feels genuinely caring and attentive, much like a dinner at close friends’ house. Guests consistently praise the welcoming atmosphere where it’s easy to relax and savor every bite. The blackboard menu, updated periodically to reflect fresh, seasonal ingredients, offers a thoughtful selection that highlights the chef’s focus on quality and authenticity, though meat lovers will find more variety than those seeking vegetarian options.

The intimate ambiance, infused with the gentle charm of its family proprietors, makes every visit feel special and heartfelt. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning guest, the experience here is more than just a meal—it’s a vivid taste of Alsace’s culinary soul crafted with love and passion.

For travelers exploring Strasbourg’s bustling city center, Restaurant La Vieille Tour promises a serene refuge where traditional flavors and genuine hospitality converge for an unforgettable dining adventure.

The restaurant belongs to a very lovely old couple who is cooking the best of their family recipes. We had a very cozy and lovely evening there and would recommend it to anyone wanting to try Alsatian food.

I made our reservation about a month in advance after researching many restaurants. We arrived about 1 hour early for lunch and we're seated right away. The have a blackboard with the menu that changes ( not sure of daily or seasonal) unfortunately two of the three of us didn't find a lot of options for not big meat eaters ,no chicken but they had rabbit, duck, and another meat option. I could tell the woman who ran the restaurant was upset but my husband ordered the duck and said it was amazing. I had an appetizer that was very filling and delicious. The food was so fresh. We ordered desserts and my personal favorite was a pearl with ice cream. For those that are more adventurous than me try this restaurant, it's small but amazing food.

A very unassuming little restaurant — small, quiet, and discreet — but the atmosphere is absolutely wonderful. The lady owner greets you warmly at the door, she is extremely friendly and helpful, and you immediately feel taken care of. The food, prepared by the owner himself, tastes homemade, just like sitting at a family table. I strongly recommend making a reservation, as the place is very small and you might not find a free table otherwise.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here! The owners were really nice to explain the menu to their best abilities in English and were patient with us as we decided what to order. The food was very nice! I'd recommend friends to dine at this cosy restaurant.
